Thailand New Energy Market Overview & Huge Market Potential
Thailand has evolved into a fast-growing emerging hub for Southeast Asian new energy development, with comprehensive government incentives greatly boosting the EV, charging infrastructure and solar energy sectors.
-
Favorable Government Policies for EV Industry
Under the EV3.5 policy (2024-2027), the Thai government offers a maximum vehicle subsidy of 100,000 THB for electric passenger cars, cuts import tariffs by 30% and slashes consumption tax from 8% to 2%. Localized production is encouraged to reach a local-to-import production ratio of 3:1 by 2027. For charging station construction, a 30% construction subsidy is available, targeting over 10,000 public chargers by 2027 and 12,000 fast-charging stations by 2030.
-
Rapid Growth of EV Sales, Dominated by Chinese Brands
Thailand’s BEV sales hit 76,000 units in 2023, accounting for 10% of total automobile sales, and the registration volume is projected to reach 150,000 units in 2024. Chinese automotive brands occupy a dominant market share of 87.1% in the local EV market (Jan-May 2024), fully proving the recognition of Chinese new energy supply chains by Thai local buyers.
-
Expanding Charging Pile Infrastructure Market
By Q1 2025, Thailand has built more than 40,000 public & private charging points, mainly concentrated in downtown Bangkok and highway service areas. Local major operators include EA Anywhere, PTT EV Station and Tesla Supercharger. Meanwhile, Chinese EV enterprises are accelerating local charging network layout, planning nationwide coverage across Thailand before 2027. Tax incentives including a 5-year tax holiday for large-scale charging projects further stimulate infrastructure investment.
-
Clear Renewable Energy Roadmap & Solar Incentives
Per Thailand’s AEDP national renewable energy plan, renewable power generation will account for 51% of the national total by 2037, with solar installed capacity exceeding 24GW. Attractive Feed-in Tariff (FiT) rates are offered for ground-mounted solar and PV+energy storage projects. To upgrade the power grid, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) prioritizes grid-connected energy storage systems, alongside new policies such as the DPPA direct power purchase scheme opening industrial green electricity trading to private developers.
Product Scope Matching the Expo
The full exhibition range perfectly matches LINKEYCON’s product layout, covering the full industrial chain of solar photovoltaic systems, new energy vehicles, charging piles and energy storage equipment:
